Here are the 2 walls I painted this year for the Powwow 2012 event. An amazing experience and I was able to work on some new directions. I had started 2012 with new work on paper involving a more gestural approach compared to the geometric work I had been painting last year. These walls are the first paintings I had done in this style working through new ideas on a wall was a great experience. I would usually paint these paintings on canvas after the paper studies. This is the first time I was able to transition directly onto a wall new ideas so fast.

This was a painting that took place as part of the Powwow Hawaii 2012 Event. Mr Jago and Myself were able to paint this large work on panel live during the opening exhibit. Mix Media on Panel 4 x 8 feet.

The UK’s first comprehensive “Graffuturism” Exhibition titled “Rudimentary Perfection” brings together an impressive group of notable international artists linked by their innovative spirit & shared graffiti heritage. Each of these artists has ventured down a unique path, offering a radical take on expressive, figurative & letter-based abstraction.

The participating artists include SheOne, Duncan Jago, Jaybo Monk, Matt W. Moore, Augustine Kofie, Nawer, Morten Andersen, Poesia, Derm, and Mark Lyken.

All of the artists traveled to Glasgow to paint murals across the city. A map of the murals is linked below. A documentary has been filmed throughout the week leading up to the show which will be released on 17th July at a special screening at Recoat Gallery.

“I stumbled upon Poesia’s Graffuturism.com. It blew me away because it showed an insight to spray can art that I’ve never seen before. The “Fast Forward” show is homage to Graffuturism.com in that it is experimental. There is no right or wrong way to paint. The one common theme is that the art is forward thinking. For graffiti art to grow, it has to change. Change leads to things evolving. Otherwise, things remain stagnant.
